Celebrating 50 Years of Service: Pecan Valley Centers Opens New Outpatient Mental Health Clinic in Granbury

Pecan Valley Centers for Behavioral and Developmental Healthcare is proud to announce the opening of its new outpatient mental health clinic at 1200 2nd Street in Granbury, providing a larger, modern facility designed to enhance the mental health care experience for individuals and families throughout Hood and Somervell Counties.
The 10,000-square-foot clinic represents a significant investment in community-based behavioral health care and reflects Pecan Valley Centers' ongoing commitment to compassionate, trauma-informed services across the region.
Completed through collaboration with the Cumming Group, Schwarz Hanson Architects, and Muckleroy & Falls, the facility was intentionally designed to support healing, privacy, and recovery from the moment clients walk through the door.

"When people walk through the building, we want them to feel a sense of calm and welcome right away," said Callie Wren, Pecan Valley Centers Community Outreach & Engagement Specialist. "The open layout, high ceilings and natural light were all intentional choices to make the space feel lighter on what could be someone's darkest day. Every aspect of the facility was designed to create an environment that supports healing while making services easier to navigate for clients and their families."
The clinic features private counseling offices, soundproof therapy and telehealth rooms, spacious treatment areas, comfortable waiting spaces, and dedicated areas for individual, group, and family services. Special attention was given to protecting client privacy and dignity, including a layout that allows individuals experiencing a mental health crisis to enter and exit discreetly when needed.

"When someone comes to us for mental health services, they may be experiencing one of the most challenging moments of their life," said Ruben DeHoyos, Pecan Valley Centers Executive Director. "We wanted this environment to feel safe, welcoming, and respectful of each person's privacy no matter where they are in their mental health journey."
The new location replaces Pecan Valley Centers' outpatient mental health clinic previously located at 104 Pirate Drive. Services offered at the facility include outpatient mental health care for adults, children, and adolescents, including case management, individual counseling, group and family therapy, medication management, and telehealth services.
While the clinic primarily serves residents of Hood and Somervell Counties, it will also be available to individuals throughout Pecan Valley Centers' six-county service area, which includes Erath, Parker, Johnson, and Palo Pinto counties.
The new facility strengthens the organization's ability to provide early intervention and ongoing support that can help prevent mental health crises and reduce strain on other community systems, such as hospitals and jails.

"As the community safety net for mental health and intellectual and developmental disability (IDD) services, our goal is to address challenges early and help people get the care they need before a crisis occurs," DeHoyos said. "This new facility represents another step forward in that mission."
The opening is especially meaningful as Pecan Valley Centers celebrates 50 years of service in 2026. For five decades, the organization has provided care for individuals facing mental health, substance use, and IDD challenges, regardless of insurance coverage or ability to pay. Today, nearly 70% of clients receiving services have no funding source for their care.
"While the needs of our communities continue to grow, our commitment remains the same," DeHoyos said. "This new clinic reflects our investment in the future of rural behavioral health care and our commitment to ensuring individuals and families can access high-quality care close to home."
Pecan Valley Centers is the Local Mental Health and Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD) Authority for six Texas counties: Hood, Johnson, Erath, Somervell, Parker and Palo Pinto. The organization is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic and provides mental health and IDD community support services to individuals regardless of health insurance status or ability to pay.
