Beginning June 6, 2019, under the MISSION Act, veterans were given more ways to access health care, including access to and care through approved non-VA medical providers in our community, called “community care providers.”

Depending on the veteran’s situation—for example, if a certain type of health service isn’t provided by VA—the veteran may be able to go to a non-VA provider, using their VA coverage.

Pecan Valley Centers Veteran Services Program will be hosting a combination health and mental health informational symposium conducted by representatives from the Dallas VA for providers and prospective providers in the rural counties between Waco, Wichita Falls, Abilene and Fort Worth. Topics will include services provided and how to enroll under the new Mission Act.

While veterans may attend, the intended audience will be care providers such as Local Mental Health Authorities, medical clinics and their administrative staff, pharmacies, as well as County Service Officers, Veteran Service Organization representatives, and those whom serve our veteran population.

There will also be VA staff present to assist care providers with paperwork to enroll as a provider under the Mission Act.

This program will be held on Wednesday October 30, 2019 from 10am to 2pm at VFW Post 2399 located at 1400 Veterans of Foreign Wars St., Mineral Wells, TX 76067.
